Dosh’s homepage is the rare NZ fintech that says the quiet part: Dosh is not a registered bank. Funds sit on trust at a registered NZ bank. Their copy also says the Depositor Compensation Scheme applies — read the live terms for the cap and the named trustee bank; this review does not invent either. A 2024 application to the Reserve Bank to become New Zealand’s first locally-owned digital-only bank is an application, not a licence. Wise and Airwallex are the cross-border objects. Kiwibank is the incumbent digital-ish bank. Dosh is the app. Do not write ‘NZ’s digital bank’ onto a trust account until RBNZ says so.

What it is

Dosh is the name New Zealanders search when they want a neobank that is not ANZ. Until it is a registered bank, the trust sentence is the product.

Best for: New Zealanders who want a money app and will read the trust wording, not a registered-bank current account.
